PENNSYLVANIA, September 25 - (5) Mr. McCloskey volunteered for Special Forces duty
after his first tour, earned his Green Beret and served with
the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - Studies and
Observations Group, commanding his own recon team in 1968.
Mr. McCloskey was awarded his second Bronze Star Medal with
Valor after undertaking heroic measures moving his team to
safety during an overwhelming enemy attack.
(6) Mr. McCloskey was transferred to the 11th Special
Forces Group (Reserves) in Ft. Mead, Maryland, in 1969 and
was sworn in as a police officer with the Metropolitan Police
District of Columbia (MPDC).
(7) Mr. McCloskey was later promoted to detective at
MPDC, where he was part of the response to the attempted
assassination of President Ronald Reagan in March 1981.
(8) Mr. McCloskey was recruited by the Central
Intelligence Agency (CIA) where he performed clandestine
operations in the Latin American Division and was trained as
a helicopter pilot in 1981.
(9) CIA Director William Casey awarded Mr. McCloskey the
Intelligence Star for Valor for actions taken to save another
during a violent guerrilla assault. Mr. McCloskey was also
the only non-Guatemalan military member to receive a Battle
Cross for Valor.
(10) Mr. McCloskey retired from government service in
1995.
(11) Mr. McCloskey was selected to be Chief of Police
for the Chitimacha Tribal Police Department in Louisiana,
where he assisted with prosecutions navigating Tribal Law and
Napoleonic Code in 1996 and later was hired as a detective in
the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office. During this time, Mr.
